Apple-Stamped Pumpkins Tote Bag DIY
Apple-stamped pumpkins are a classic Halloween craft! I have such fond memories of creating these as a child, and I love carrying on that tradition with my own kids each Halloween. This year, we used this printmaking technique to decorate our Kid Made Modern Trick-or-Treat Tote bag. This bag is so cute for collecting candy on Halloween night! The Trick-or-Treat Tote kit makes this project so easy and fun. It’s a great way to spend a fall afternoon creating with your kids.
Materials Needed:
- Kid Made Modern Trick-or-Treat Tote Craft Kit
- A large apple
- A knife
- A black permanent marker
- Goggly eyes
- A pencil or cotton swab
- Strong glue (like tacky glue)
Instructions:
Step 1
Make a vertical slice down the center of your apple. Let the apple dry for a few minutes before stamping. You can place the slices cut-side down on a paper towel to dry them out a little faster.
Step 2
Use the paintbrush from the Trick-or-Treat Tote kit to add a thick layer of orange paint to the cut side of your apple. Flip this over and press it down firmly onto the front of your tote bag. Gently lift the apple to reveal your print. If you need to, you can use a little bit of paint on your brush to fill in any gaps in the print. Repeat this with as many apples as you like on the front of the tote bag.
Step 3
Use the paintbrush to paint some simple, swirling vines on a few of your pumpkins. You can also paint stems onto your pumpkins with green paint.
Step 4
Use the bat stamper from the Trick-or-Treat tote kit to stamp some purple bats onto your bag around the pumpkins. You can also dip the eraser end of a pencil or a cotton swab into the purple paint to add some decorative dots. Let all of your paint dry.
Step 5
Once your paint has dried, glue googly eyes onto your pumpkins. Use the permanent marker to add different mouths to your pumpkins and any other decorations you would like! Once the glue dries, your bag is ready for Trick-or-Treating!
