Paper Mache Ornaments

Homemade ornaments add the perfect personalized touch to any Christmas tree. Creating and decorating ornaments is also a great group activity for kids — everyone gets an easy and fun opportunity to deck the halls in style. Using the Kid Made Modern Paper Mache Ornament Kit (or your own materials,) here’s how to get started on making some adorable adornments for your tree.

• White glue and glue dots
• Sequins and beads
• Tissue paper squares
• Metallic cording
• Glitter vials

• Paints and a small brush

STEPS

1.  Create your background

Use the white glue to attach small pieces of tissue paper onto the ornament base. You can use multiple colors of tissue paper and create a pattern, or use just one color for a solid background. Once you have your base, you can add paint and glitter to set the scene!

2. Decorate

Get creative and decorate your ornament! Glue pom poms and sequins using the white glue as well as the glue dots.

3. Loop the top

Loop the metallic cording through the hole at the top of the ornament and tie shut. For extra flair, you can thread a colorful bead or two through the cording. 

4. Finishing touch
