Our country is in the midst of an incredibly historic election -- Kamala Harris is making history as the first woman and the first woman of color as Vice President and setting a new milestone for girls and women everywhere. No stranger to barrier breaking, Madam VP-Elect has provided encouragement and motivation for anyone working to make the world a better place. This fun art project incorporates some of her words of wisdom to celebrate the Inauguration and inspire all of us to keep going.
Materials
- Black and white photo of Kamala Harris (tons of these on the internet -- just pick your favorite!)
- VP-Elect’s words of wisdom -- you can type out your own or use our set (download HERE)
- Scissors
- Glue
- Watercolor paper + watercolors
- Additional decorative accessories (our Craft Kits are chock full of fun things -- we’re using sequins from our Rainbow Craft Kit!)
Directions
Step 1
Make the background -- Use the watercolors to paint a bright abstract design.
Step 2
Make your portrait + quotes -- Print and cut out a black and white photo of Kamala Harris. Also print and cut out the words of wisdom you are using. Glue the portrait in one corner of your watercolor. Glue quotes to the watercolor page -- stretching them outward from the VP-Elect.
Step 3
Add decorations -- If you’d like, glue decorations to the page to make it more of a collage.
