This time of year, campaign signs seemingly line streets and yards for miles. But urging others to simply get out and vote is incredibly important and while kids are too young to vote, they definitely aren’t too young to get in on this project. In fact, we’re using the Kid Made Modern My First Painting Collection to paint these DIY Vote Yard Signs. Get in on the civic fun!
Materials:
-
Watercolors, crayons, or pencils
- Foam board, poster board, or cardboard
- Yard sign stakes or sticks
- Sturdy tape
Here's How to Make the VOTE Signs:
Outline Your Message
The handmade nature of these signs is what makes them so fun, but we suggest using watercolors, crayons, or pencils to very lightly outline your main message.
Create Your Message
Starting with the words you’d like to include on your yard sign, paint in your message. Think outside the box a little and try some of the Collection’s fun stamps and rollers to use in painting the words. Some of them make super fun graphic letters!
Add Design
Once you’ve added your message, you can paint on any additional designs you like.
Tape on Stakes
Use strong tape to add your stakes to the back of your yard sign. Then display!
