Pretend Play Bento Box DIY
Bento boxes are such a great way to serve food to kids. They are perfect for trying a little bit of a lot of things presented in a visually appealing package. With our DIY, kids can help make their own stocked bento boxes to use in pretend play. It’s what every little foodie’s kitchen needs!
Materials:
-
Recycled cardboard boxes (the craft kit box is a good size!)
-
Strong scissors
-
Hot glue gun
Directions
Step 1 - Craft Your Food
Take a look at the kit and decide what goodies you’d like to craft for your box. Use scissors and glue to make whatever you’d like out of felt and paper. And try your hand at some of the clay designs too. We made a salad with chicken, hummus and pita chips, some fruit, a donut, and a little drink -- a balanced meal!
Step 2 - Layout Your Bento Box Design
Decide how many compartments you’d like your bento box to have. Cut strips of cardboard to insert and form the compartments -- we used the box top flaps to form our divider strips.
Step 3 - Construct Your Bento Box
Use a hot glue gun to add in and secure the cardboard pieces. Then add your food into the box. You’re ready to eat!
