Kid Made Modern’s Winter Craft kit contains a bevy of blizzard-themed fun. The kit includes many simple and fun winter crafts. Using the kit, you can embellish festive felt snowflake shapes to make DIY wintry decor!
MATERIALS:
Kid Made Modern Winter Craft Kit which includes:
- Felt shapes
- Pom poms, paillettes, and fuzzy sticks
- Gemstones, glitter, and beads
- Cording
- Paper tubes elastic cording
- Tacky glue
- For this project, you will also need a small hole punch or scissors.
Here’s how to make it:
- Decorate The Shapes
Decorate your felt shapes! The shapes in the Winter Craft Kit include snowflakes, ice skates, stars, and even snowmen! Use the glue to attach glitter, pom poms, gems, or fuzzy sticks to the felt. Get creative, and don’t be afraid to make each shape your own!
- Prepare the Cording
Take a hollow paper tube and loop cording through the tube, so that there is an equal amount of cording hanging down from either side.
- Attach the Decorations
Use a small hole-punch or a pair of scissors, and poke a small hole through the top of the decoration. Loop one end of the cording through the hole in the felt and tie to secure. Repeat several times on each side, until you have a garland of hanging winter decorations!
- Hang your masterpiece!
Hang the garland and enjoy!
POPSICLE STICK SNOWFLAKES
What better way to celebrate the cold than with a chilly frozen popsicle? It’s a winter win-win — by enjoying an icy treat, you’re also collecting essential materials for this craft: popsicle sticks! Even if you want to skip the sugar, popsicle stick snowflakes are a sweet and simple winter treat.
MATERIALS:
- Popsicle sticks (3-5 per snowflake)
- Kid Made Modern Winter Craft Kit materials including:
- Pom poms
- Fuzzy sticks
- Sticker backed gemstones
- Tacky glue
- Glitter
Here’s how to make it:
- Assemble your snowflake
Layer your popsicle sticks criss-cross over each other. Secure in the center with tacky glue.
PRO TIP: You can make the base layers of the snowflake the day ahead and secure with a clothespin. Then on your crafting day, the snowflakes are dry and ready for decoration.
- Decorate!
Once the glue on the popsicle sticks has dried, it’s time to begin decorating! No two snowflakes are alike, so make your snowflake as unique as you. A sparkly suggestion: cover your whole snowflake in sparkles by brushing a thin layer of tacky glue over the popsicle stick and gently dipping it into loose glitter.
PAPER SNOWFLAKE CHAIN
There is no winter craft more classic than an old-fashioned paper snowflake chain. This craft is an incredibly easy and fun activity, using only a few simple materials.
MATERIALS:
- Paper
- Scissors
- Long string or yarn
- Glitter glue (optional)
Here’s how to make it:
- Fold the paper
Starting with a square piece of paper, fold diagonally twice until you have a triangle. Fold the triangle into thirds, beginning with the right side. Then, cut a straight line across the bottom of the triangle to remove the bottom points. Use our step-by-step snowflake visual aid to help with this process.
- Cut out your shapes
Take your folded triangle and cut small shapes into it. If you’re looking to make a specific snowflake shape, our guide provides a few specific ideas. Otherwise, you can leave the shape up to chance, just like a real snowflake!
- Unfold and behold!
Here comes the fun part: when you unfold your paper, a magical and unique paper snowflake will be revealed!
- Decorate and hang
If you’d like to add some extra sparkle to your snow, use glitter glue to line the exterior of your snowflake.
To hang, use a small hole-punch or a pair of scissors to poke a small hole through the top of the snowflake. Loop the string through the hole and tie to secure.
