STEAM Painted Paper Collage
Create a unique and colorful abstract paper collage using painted paper. Experiment with the STEAM Paint Exploration Kit to paint your paper with a variety of different materials. Cut abstract shapes from your paintings and turn them into a masterpiece! Read below for the full tutorial.
Materials:
- STEAM Paint Exploration Kit
- Artist Paper Pad
- Scissors
- Glue
Instructions:
Step 1
Use your STEAM Paint Exploration Kit to paint several pieces of paper. The kit comes with everything you will need: paper, 4 colors of paint, and materials to create interesting DIY paint brushes. We used the clothespins to make paint brushes out of pom poms, feathers, and felt pieces. We also bent pipe cleaners into different shapes to use as stamps.
You can add other items from around your house to paint with - some great options are toilet paper tubes, forks, potato mashers and recycled bubble wrap! Use your homemade brushes and stamps to paint several pieces of paper with different colors.
You can even mix colors together. Try color combinations like red and blue, green and yellow, and green and blue!
Step 2
Once your paintings have dried, use scissors to cut a variety of different abstract shapes from your painted paper. Be creative! There is no right or wrong way to create your collage.
Step 3
Once you have cut out a bunch of different shapes, arrange them onto a large piece of paper from the Artist’s Pad.
